Adventures in Awareness | Buddhism vs Nonduality: Yahel Avigur on the emptiness of awareness @adventuresinawareness | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
The following is a conversation with Yahel Avigur, a highly regarded meditation teacher in the Buddhist Insight meditation tradition. He regularly leads retreats at Gaia House in the UK, and was approved to Rob Burbea to teach his approach to emptiness, dependent arising and Jhanas, the special states of deep absorption that can arise in mediation. He is highly sought after to guide long personal silent retreats for people doing 3 month, 6 month and year long immersions.
The conversation is basically motivated by my desire to understand the differences between Advaita Vedanta and Buddhist perspectives on reality and awakening. Specifically, how fundamental is awareness?
Advaita Vendanta is otherwise known as non-duality or metaphysical idealism, which is the notion that all of reality is consciousness, and there are many other videos on the channel with Bernado Kastrup, Rupert Spira, Christopher Wallis and such that expound on this view.
