The 6th section of my microadventure of section hiking the Little Loop of the Buckeye Trail in Northeast Ohio brought me from Mentor Lagoons to Big Creek Reservation, Tupelo Pond in Geauga Park District. I have completed numerous backpacking adventures from the John Muir Trail to Kilimanjaro, but I’ve never done a solo overnight adventure. During this section, I reflect on and complete my first solo overnight backpacking adventure, which included 14 hours of darkness as well as wind and snow advisories. Journey along on this thrilling trip filled with rain, snow, and conquering of one’s fears as I share some backpacking tips and tricks that you can use on your next backpacking adventure from setting up camp, hanging a bear bag, and ways to stay warm. There’s even a special topic about staying warm while trying watersports as well. Section 6: Mentor Lagoons to Big Creek Reservation, Geauga Park District (with an overnight at Girdled Road Reservation, Lake Metroparks: 25.3 Buckeye Trail miles (113.1 total miles on Buckeye Trail).
