WATERS, WHISPER, THUNDER: WHAT GOD’S VOICE SOUNDS LIKE: A Seminary Biblical and Theological Studies Symposium
Location: In-Person: South Howison Room, Reimer Student Life Centre, Providence Campus | Online: via Zoom
Presenter: Nate Wall-Bowering, Assistant Professor of Old Testament
Brief Description: Christians of various stripes try to hear God’s voice in the pages of the Bible, in the quiet of prayer, and in the happenings of life. But to what exactly should Christians tune their ears? What does God’s voice sound like? The Old Testament not only takes up these questions, it even spells out an answer. With help from Christian poet John Donne, and by visiting a handful of Old Testament texts, this symposium will explore the theology of God’s style offered by the Scriptures. God’s voice, the Old Testament says, sounds like more—a more that ends in mercy.
