Ultima Runes of Virtue 2 Ending
updated
(I'm currently in the middle of moving, so expect less videos for the meantime.)
Red XIII, such a great character that even the spinoffs forget about him most of the time.
Sorry for not picking the stairways. Despite the funny dialogue, it's otherwise boring to watch.
You know, Elmyra, if people are going to use you as a daycare center, you might as well start charging.
My new girlfriend is already jealous and stalking me. I really know how to pick em.
Running around to all the monitors was still less annoying than getting all three to push a button at once.
Stop healing yourself, Dorkface!
So is the guy who sells items named Tyler?
Note that the weapon and armor shop appears to sell everything. I really wish I had asked for more money before the bombing.
I can really use an inn. I feel like I've run into every monster in the game so far.
Good thing that flowers are so cheap. I haven't been payed yet.
To my long time viewers (Do I have any?) I promise to cut out any grinding if it comes to that.
(This demake is originally called Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and the ips can be found here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1657 Don't ask me where the rom can be found because I forget where I got it.)
There was going to be a ninth player, but the game doesn't like cheaters.
Toad has been my favorite Nintendo character since I got the first issue of Nintendo Power in '88, and the Super Mario Super Show debuted the next year. I always picked him in Mario Kart.
I struggled a bit in World 6 because I usually skip that place. I forgot where a couple mushrooms were.
I died because I thought there was no Quick Beam in that final room, and decided to goof off and pretend Mega Man was looking for the beam. Well, he got it.
I was going to post this back in October but I had problems with one line that used a special character. I finally fixed it by adding a line that used Atari BASIC's CHR$ function.
I brought an extra key from the last level, and it really helps. I think it's still possible to beat this level without the extra key AND without grabbing the two keys in the trap pit, but only if you ignore that door to the left of the start of this level. I even wasted a key on one of the roaming security bots and I still had enough keys.
The game loops through the first three levels at this point. I played level four, and it's just level one with a smaller time limit.
The orange ball in this level reminds me of Keystone Kapers, if that game was slower paced.
This difficult platforming game has been on my bucket list for a while. I've had problems getting it to work on my old CV emulator, but now I can finally see what the third level is like!
I am in no way affiliated with anyone mentioned in the cracked openings or demos.
The Zelda part (a fan game quest for the Zelda Classics program) runs fine. I think my recording program is what makes it look so bad.
(Original video deleted because a curse word sneaked in.)
Here's my old video of the ending: youtube.com/watch?v=BRn7xo1sh4U
Let me explain the end of this video: I was planning on skipping the Northeast Cave, because I always assumed you had to have a second player to conquer it, (and since I only have one copy of the game, I've never done it myself.) I since saw a strategy that involved using a mayor as a second player, so I thought I would use the Mayor of New Magencia. Turns out that while you can SORTA beat the second room, the third room is impossible because you need the mayor to pick up a key for you, which he can't.
Alas, my emulator can't simulate the link connection, either. I'm thinking about making one last video about that cave.
3:15 This floor is a lot like the Southwest Cave except now you can't touch the switches directly and you're on that annoying conveyor belt.
5:16 You'll have to go in all four directions to push every pressure plate to finish the floor.
7:15 After traveling through the arrows, just avoid touching them and reach the ladder on the top left. Remember, if a monster travels on an arrow and lands on you, you'll be instantly killed.
8:18 Travel upwards until you're below the room with the skeleton and the eep epp. Once again you want the skeleton to destroy the crumbling wall and the eep eep to travel until it hits a switch. Flipping that switch will cause many more crumbling walls to appear, which will allow you to complete the floor.
9:50 This floor is tricky. You're goal is to get the heart key and take the portal next to the entrance, but you'll have to manipulate the eep eeps. By destroying each cobweb, the eep eeps can push the barrels out of your way, but you have to make sure they don't push any barrel into a corner that will block your progress. At one point, I used the star wand just to be safe, and I pushed several eep eeps into the portals, where they get stuck in an infinite arrow loop.
15:34 Just touch all the fake stairs and return to the entrance.
16:32 The lower right screen has an invisible floor. The upper right screen has boulders than can be destroyed by regular weapons.
The second room is straight forward but you'll have to use the orb to find the hidden exit.
In the first room, you have to use the hourglass to break up the boulders. You can use the eep eep to hit it, but I just decided to use the ping pong paddle and run for it.
3:45 The Pie Factory! You have eight chances to make four pies go through a series of conveyor belts until they reach either storage or rejection. You'll have to push the pies four times (by pressure plates) to successfully complete one storage, but you get a break between the 2nd and 3rd try, and there's portals that make your life easier.
10:28 First stick a few eep epps at the lower part and throw the switch so they can keep hitting the plates for you. After you get the key and move to the east screen, you'll have to wait for the skeletons to break the walls to allow the other eep eeps to hit the necessary switches for you.
I'm not sure why I haven't dumped the boomerang. Consider it a running gag in this playthrough.
1:27 The bat cave is near Minoc and the Cavern of Selfishness. In the first room, the bats will always respawn no matter how many times you clear part of the room out. The solution is to use the friendly horn. Now you have a hidden path open to you. In the Texas room just collect the gems and leave. I could have done this much earlier.
6:12 In the first room of the Southwest cave, just collect mushrooms. In the second, flip each switch from the bottom up until you can collect the coins.
The star wand is required to remove a barrier in this dungeon and the next one. It can also create a barrier, but it's not very useful. Plus, it costs 4 stars to use, which is a lot even for Mariah.
Well, I thought it was funny.
In the first room to the west you can easily screw up the jar maze. Also, you have to touch the face statues to push rocks out of your way.
In the second room, touching the dark parts of the floor creates more buzz saws to dodge.
In the third, you have to be patient with the jaggers. You can kill some of them, but you might end up killing them in between yourself and the switch.
The fourth room is one of the most memorable in the game, and definitely something that couldn't happen in the original. You have to push all the eep eeps into the arrows before you do it yourself. If you don't, an eep eep will destroy you. If you are the last one, you'll destroy the last eep eep and open the gate. Here's an extra boomerang as your reward.
You have to fight several enemies in a small arena to get the magic sword.
I dropped my regular sword, but you might want to keep yours. Two swords are great against the cyclops.
10:15 The second room to the east is a pain. You have to hit the moving arrow just when the disappearing arrow lines up with you, but you have very little time to do it on the right.
14:13 In the room with the magic armor, you can collect an unlimited supply of star keys by stepping on the pressure plate. The orb will give you an idea of where the secret rooms are. The heart key is in the lower right of the screen, the anhk key is behind the heart doors, and the magic armor is below the exit in the upper right corner.
The Cavern of Pride is located in the basement of the Cove. So you have a mini-dungeon before the main one.
The first room of the Cavern has hidden teleport spaces. And the first ladder you come across takes you back outside. I think the hammer is there in case you mess up the jar and barrel pushing puzzle.
In the second room, every box turns into a tiger.
In the third room, most of the trolls will ignore you unless you get to the center table in the center room.
The fourth room is the Cavern's main gimmick. You have four paths, each leading to a damn good item. All are worth collecting, although only one is necessary.
To the north, you can collect a ping pong paddle. It can stun many enemies, toggle switches and collect mushrooms. Definitely one of the best items in both games.
Lord British doesn't tell you directly where to go, so I'll say it: Your next destination is the Cavern of Pride, and to reach it you need to take a boat. The clue you need was found at the Buccaneer's Den. You have to drive your boat into a whirlpool.
I showed off part of the main castle's basement in the first Runes of Virtue 2 video, but I forgot to show off the most important part. You can go through this area and get a star key, which unlocks a door to a portal. This portal takes you straight to the eight portals in The Lyceum, so it's an alternate to going to Yew and Moonglow.
Serpent's Hold is an optional area. The only person there tells you what you can get in the Cavern of Pride. You also have a basement full of monsters.
