Brownsville and Matamoros residents will soon have a new bridge to use when crossing the port of entry at Elizabeth St. and International Boulevard.

The U.S. General Services Administration and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection broke ground on the $264 million Brownsville Gateway Land Port of Entry.

The project, expected to be completed in 2029 will replace aging facilities and enhance operations and efficiency.
