BROTHERS GRIMM formed in Cincinnati, OH during the late-'80s, when all of the members were still teenagers. Settling on an initial lineup of Jake Bolduc (bass), Christian Green (drums), guitarists Rob Gannon and Dennis Hamlin, and Bruce Arnold on vocals, the extremely dedicated crew honed an astoundingly high-level form of progressive metal throughout frequent late-night practice sessions—inspired by legends such as Cacophony, Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Racer X, and Watchtower, to name a few.
Tracked with Dale "Smitty" Smith—who had done quite a bit of work with David T. Chastain's assorted projects—at Queen City Music, debut outing Helm's Deep was released on cassette in 1990, and its creative songwriting and adept musicianship established BROTHERS GRIMM as both ahead of their time and technically on par with now-classics of that era. Few live shows followed, however, and rather than pursue support from a record label, several members of the group relocated to Hollywood to attend the Musicians Institute as the writing for follow-up Only Change is Constant started to take shape.
Recorded as a four-piece sans Gannon and with Aaron Thomas from DEUS VULT on vocals, Only Change is Constant began at Audio Craft Studio when the remaining musicians returned from Los Angeles. Short on finances, the band chipped in for an ADAT machine and finished the EP at whomever's home would tolerate the noise. The material would eventually be released in 1992, once again in limited numbers on cassette. Though BROTHERS GRIMM had already started to work on some promising new songs, continuing financial struggles combined with general growing pains resulted in the lineup going their separate ways shortly thereafter.
But now, a whopping three decades later, Divebomb Records is thrilled to compile the complete BROTHERS GRIMM discography onto CD for the very first time. The disc will contain all nine should-be cult classic tracks from both Helm's Deep and Only Change is Constant, plus three bonus instrument-only takes from the Only Change is Constant sessions—all remastered by Jamie King Audio. Plus, a 20-page CD booklet fully-loaded with photos, lyrics, and a retrospective interview with the band. For the fans, by the fans!

When people reflect on the Florida metal scene of the late-80s, groups like Death, Morbid Angel, and Obituary instantly spring to mind. Yet, theres one band that despite never achieving the same glory some of their contemporaries enjoyed, is still adored and respected amongst cult metal fans all these years later: Lake Worth thrash heathens RAPED APE.
Named after mechanic slang for an object moving at unhinged speeds, RAPED APE did precisely that within the South Florida metal scene, releasing three demos and opening for the likes of Sepultura, Overkill, M.O.D., Coroner, and more. Eventually, the group entered the famed Morrisound Recording to work with producer extraordinaire Scott Burns to track their debut EP, 1993s Terminal Reality. Having just celebrated its 30th anniversary, Divebomb Records has once again joined forces with RAPED APE for a special re-release of Terminal Reality, presenting two exclusive new mixes of the material.
Explains RAPED APE drummer JC Dwyer, Old Dogs is my vision, and its sonically reminiscent of Scott Burns epic Morrisound mix; but bigger, badder, and more defined thanks to modern digital mixing advancements. This anniversary edition also restores a recently uncovered guest solo from Dennis Munoz of Solstice, and even presents the formerly unreleased Seen Not Heard—recorded during the Terminal Reality sessions, but not included on the original release. Totaling 14 songs packaged alongside a 16-page booklet with re-imagined cover art (by Pooch), lyrics, photos, flyers, and liner notes from both the band and Scott Burns. For the fans, by the fans!

ENTROPY formed in Brampton, Ontario, Canada in 1989 after ex-members of a band called Aftermath—Ger Schreinert (vocals), Aldo Arbitrante (guitar), and Steve Maclaren (bass)—hooked up with guitarist Dan Lauzon through an ad in the Toronto Sun, before bringing in drummer Darren Foster. By 1991, the group was tracking its first demo at Future Sound Studio (Sacrifice, Razor, Slaughter, etc.) with the immediate goal of putting forth a limitless brand of technical and progressive metal drawing influence from any number of subgenres—power, thrash, death, etc.
Prior to 1992 industry demo Machines Way, guitarist Arbitrante stunningly took over behind the drum kit, performing double duty to mind-blowing effect for years to come. Then, with Maclaren out, Lauzon and Arbitrante also performed all of the bass tracks on full-length debut, Ashen Existence. Tracked at the Metalworks (Triumph, Kick Axe, Infernäl Mäjesty, etc.) in September of 1992, the album was viewed as such a step forward that ENTROPY destroyed all remaining copies of their demos upon its completion. Opting to avoid the overbearing recording/licensing contracts of the era, the band decided to self-release in order to retain proper ownership of their output.
Despite the changing landscape of metal circa 1992, Ashen Existence would rightfully go on to become an absolute cult classic—a unique masterpiece of complex, forward-thinking, death-tinged thrash that in-the-know listeners have championed through fanzines and online for decades. From well-honed melodies to neck-breaking grooves and an equally wide array of vocal acrobatics, Ashen Existence remains intriguingly diverse and full of unexpected twists and turns.
Therefore, Divebomb Records is elated that ENTROPY has agreed to partner with the label for this 2×CD 30th anniversary edition of the legendary Ashen Existence—expanded to present both the 1991 and 1992 demos (sourced from DAT masters); including exclusive tracks such as Transgressor, Nightmare Extraordinaire, and Storm of Mind. Fully remastered by Jamie King Audio, the set will also contain an all-new 20-page booklet including lyrics, photos, press clippings, and an interview with the band. For the fans, by the fans!
