I’ve actually reviewed half of Josef Fares’ games at this point, and I really liked both A Way Out and It Takes Two, so going back to his first game, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was a fascinating experience. Whereas his games after this would all be unique co-op experiences, that played with asynchronous experiences, Brothers is an asynchronous experience for one player, controlling one brother with the right stick and trigger, one with the left- although, with some absolutely insane wrist discomfort and awkward closeness, this can also become a very… something co-op experience, I would know. Brothers was initially released in 2013, one of the final 5 Summer of Arcade games on the Xbox 360, with the PS3 and PC versions following a month later, the developer Starbreeze would then sell the rights to the game to their publisher 505 Games, who would then go on to continue releasing it- the PS4 and Xbox One releases in 2015 would add Director’s Commentary, and a mobile release would follow the same year, in 2019 it would hit the Nintendo Switch, which would definitely make Co-Op more comfortable, it would join Amazon’s Luna streaming service in 2020, and in 2024, for some reason, the game was remade for the PS5, Xbox Series Consoles, and PC, with a disastrous new art style that makes it look like those Nintendo Hire This Man memes, where it’s just horrendously overdetailed, but what can ya do.
