The 2025 GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado, delivered an unforgettable experience for trail running enthusiasts, with a lineup of grueling races set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. The running events, including the iconic Pepi's Face-Off, challenged athletes with steep climbs, technical descents, and high-altitude conditions that tested both physical endurance and mental grit. Runners tackled courses like the 10K Spring Runoff and the Vail Pass Half Marathon, weaving through lush forests and rugged terrain. The atmosphere was electric, with crowds cheering along Gore Creek and at Golden Peak, where competitors pushed their limits. For my brother Joseph DeMoor and me, the highlight was racing side by side, fueling each other’s drive to conquer the demanding trails and celebrate the shared triumph of crossing the finish line.
What made the 2025 GoPro Games truly special was the chance to double down, running two races in a single day—an exhilarating challenge that amplified the adventure. Joseph crushed Pepi's Face-Off, powering through the brutal uphill battle to claim a top spot, his focus unbreakable despite the thin mountain air. We then teamed up for the 5K Trail Run later that afternoon, leaning on our sibling bond to navigate fatigue and keep the pace. The Vail community’s energy, combined with the event’s seamless organization, created a perfect stage for these moments of personal and collective victory. Running through Vail’s pristine landscapes, with my brother by my side, turned the GoPro Games into more than a competition—it was a celebration of resilience, family, and the pure joy of the sport.
