Controversy and crisis are two recurring words when trying to explain the start of the season that the Brooklyn Nets have had, whose roster has not been able to demonstrate on the court the supposed great talent it has and after a dreadful start of the season with a 2-6 record, not only have they decided to fire coach Steve Nash, but also, according to reports, they are exploring the dissolution of their Big 3, consisting of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons.
Nets General Manager Sean Marks is desperately looking to negotiate changes to improve his unbalanced roster and has already begun negotiating reportedly according to a conversation he had with a Western Conference team, Simmons' name is the one that has come up as an option to make such a move. Last Tuesday, after Nash was fired, the Nets faced the Chicago Bulls and ended up losing after a lousy game by Irving who hit two of 12 shots from the field for four points, just after the game Marks did not hide his disappointment with the start of the season. In related news, The Nets are just eight games into the 2022–23 NBA season, but by any metric, the first 10% of the year has been an abject failure. Coach Steve Nash was fired after a 2–5 start to the year, and Brooklyn followed the surprising news by coughing up a game late to the Bulls, falling 108–99 after being outscored 31–19 in the fourth quarter. Time will tell if the team’s coaching change will get the talented roster—which features three-star players in Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons—back on track, but general manager Sean Marks indicated that an overhaul in that department could also be coming.
