Between 1963 and 1965 in Manchester, England, serial killers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley lured five children to their deaths on windswept Saddleworth Moor. This British true crime case became known as the infamous Moors Murders, leaving an entire nation traumatized.
Over the course of 1963-1965, their murder spree claimed five child victims – Pauline Reade, John Kilbride, Keith Bennett, Lesley Ann Downey, and Edward Evans – aged between 10 and 17. Pauline Reade (16) disappeared on her way to a dance in July 1963, the first to fall prey. Months later, 12-year-old John Kilbride went missing from a market. In June 1964, Keith Bennett (12) was abducted while walking to his grandmother’s house. And on Boxing Day 1964, 10-year-old Lesley Ann Downey was lured away from a fairground. Brady and Hindley were finally caught in October 1965 when Myra’s brother-in-law witnessed them murdering 17-year-old Edward Evans and alerted police.
