In this video, I bring you yet another easy acronym for you to use when giving your character some conflict or obstacles to overcome, or stumbling blocks that may hinder them a little while so they can't pursue or reach the main goal. when all is well for your character, it makes a boring read. Throwing some small conflicts in the mix can provide stakes, tension, and even lead to some amazing character development along the way. So just remember, when all is well, bring on the R.A.I.N.
Really mess things up for your character! In all sorts of aspects of their life!
R=reality, normal life, status quo,
A=allies, friends, family, comrades, loved ones
I=ideas/ideals. The way they believe or think, their dreams or goals
N=Needs. Basic or otherwise. Food, shelter, water, love, companionship, clothing, medicine, oxygen, exercise...etc.
Using this acronym can help you remember how to bring depth to your story by providing ways to showcase your characters' strength and skill, coping mechanisms, and intellect when dealing with all sorts of drama and conflict!
