I recently picked up a HP MediaVault mv5040, a 2-bay 2008 era NAS, on eBay for around $35. In this video I go over what makes this unique and how to get a modern debian OS installed on it to turn it into a modern day fully functional NAS, and even add in docker support and remote management.
