Nick Driftwood | Brighton Seafront Anamorphic - Lumix S1 with Kowa B&H 50mm 2X 2.40:1 @driftwoodtv | Uploaded February 2019 | Updated October 2024, 9 hours ago.
4096 x 1716 Scope sized and aggressively cropped to lessen vignetting of the Kowa at this hi rez mode (filmed in 4992x3744). Another lovely sunny day in Winter! So let's shoot some more anamorphic with the Panasonic Lumix S1 and 24-105mm f4 holding lens with a Kowa Bell & Howell 50mm 2X anamorphic lens in 6KPhoto Mode (4:3) set at 105mm to clear as much vignetting as we can. 6kphoto is 29.97p you get audio and 4kphoto gives you 60p at less Rez. The beauty of using a auto focus holding lens means you can use AF Assist on the Lumix lens after setting your focal distance with the Kowa (dual focus here!). It's more taxing than using a rangefinder but you infinitely get more sharpeness without extra glass. I've been using a diopter to get in close up to a foot on the Kowa. The width of 6kphoto mode at 4992 pixels means you'll be slightly cropping material to fill 2.39:1 (or 2.40:1) and also using the Lumix lens at 105 - the highest fl to avoid vignetting the Kowa - although its not enough. To fully utilise 6Kphoto mode with the Kowa you'll need to go higher than 105mm to rid yourself of the cornering. Filters were used to ND down and make use of faster lens speeds in the direct sun. Shutter was set at 60ss and iso 100 for daylight and 1600 for night.
