In this short video I show you some essential items you should keep in a Brian May Red Special guitar case.
There is a spare set of Rotosound British Steels 0.009-0.042" stainless steel strings (Brian has used Optima Gold strings for some years) but these Rotosounds are just as durable and considerably cheaper.
I remove the tremolo arm to ensure that the case lid doesn't actuate the tremolo when closed.
Brian uses the red washers from the flip lid Grolsch lager bottles as strap locks.
I keep a compact treble booster such as the KAT RED-18 strap-mount treble booster in my case but the KAT/BMG Treble Booster Classic is a versatile choice because it can emulate boost profiles/tones from three eras of Queen.
You don't need many tools to maintain a Brian May Red Special guitar but a set of these high quality Japanese made "Engineer" brand spanners and some mini hex key wrenches are a must.
This is a specific Hiscox case made in the U.K. from ABS to fit Brian May Red Special guitars. The ivory colour is special order. I bought it from Wunjo Guitars in Denmark Street, London.
The accompanying music is an extract from the studio guitar track of Under Pressure by Queen which features Brian May playing a 12 string guitar in addition to his famous Red Special.
