"Brethren Disaster Ministry = Faith In Action"
An Alternative Christmas Gift Suggestion
Once again in 2018 disasters have made the news in the United States, almost on a daily basis. If it wasn't from floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, it came from fires, lava flows and human caused violence or refugees just wishing to live in a safe place.
Again this December, "Brethren Voices" features "An Alternative Gift Giving Suggestion." With our December program, we are encouraging a financial gift to the Brethren Disaster Ministries, in the name of that special someone on your list. As last year, the number of disasters has almost reached the countless number and Brethren Disaster Ministries has been very busy assisting the survivors of many disasters.
Brethren Disaster Ministries' Rebuild Program engages volunteers to repair and rebuild storm damaged homes for some of the most vulnerable disaster survivors, thereby easing trauma and promoting recovery. By demonstrating Christ’s love and putting their faith in action as they restore damaged homes, volunteers also restore broken lives. "Brethren Voices" shares what Brethren and its many volunteers have been doing to assist the survivors of some of these disasters.
We received permission from pianist and composer, Ken Medema to share one of his improvised compositions about Children’s Disaster Services. Though blind from birth, Ken sees and hears with heart and mind. We feature his creation, "Teach Me How To Play Again.”
Andy Murray, known by many Brethren as a pastor, educator, and musician, shares one of his songs, "A Christmas Carol." Both of these music videos feature photos from volunteers of BDM and Children's Disaster Services.
