Hello 2026! I almost gave up on editing this year, but I love it too much to stay away. If you missed my last 2 community posts, my precious 8 year old laptop did not make it to 2026 and along with it, my editing program Sony Vegas Pro 11.0 since it was a cracked version. After this loss I was really uninspired and unmotivated and I thought maybe I could just stop editing altogether, especially since I had such a great year of editing in 2025 and that could just mark my end. But that editing itch has been creeping up and I'm not ready to stop yet. I've been using my husband's laptop, since he switched to a desktop now, and it's in much better shape than my laptop ever was. So here is my first edit using a new program, Kdenlive. It's really more of a test edit. I just picked footage that I could easily work with. These episodes are very short and I knew I could do something with this bit of the song. Plus I've been wanting to make another edit with these two again anyway. It's been a struggle trying to become familiar with a new program and editing has been slow going because I get too frustrated with the process. Navigating the timeline is rough, adding transitions annoy me, I couldn't figure out how to lower the opacity on text so no watermark, and I'm too overwhelmed to attempt any coloring. I only slapped on a bit of saturation and called it a day. There are a few things I like about the program, but there are a lot of things I really don't like. Sony Vegas will always have my heart (sorry, not sorry). So this is short and basic because that's all I could manage right now. I don't even like how it turned out and don't get me started on the rendering. The video is somehow delayed by maybe like 2 frames after rendering and I have no idea how to fix it, but the timing is perfect inside the program. Maybe it's not noticeable to anyone else, but I see it and it bothers me. I gave up on trying to render it again and again so this will just have to do. I'll play around some more on my next edit. I'm entering my simple era, but I don't care because at least I'm still editing. I do have hope though that I will learn how to do more in this program and improve over time.
