♦ What formats can I read?
Anything counts! Re-reads, graphic novels, audiobooks, manga, anthologies, short stories, etc.
♦ Can I continue reading a book I already started before the readathon starts, or count a book that I DNF'd?
No, books must be started within the duration of the readathon (see Daruk perk for exception).
♦ Can I use one book for multiple prompts?
You cannot double up on reading challenges for a book - one book applies for one challenge (see Mipha perk for exception).
♦ What are reading sprints / how can I participate in one?
Reading sprints are a set period of time where we focus solely on reading. We may run sprint sessions on Twitter, Instagram Live, Youtube or in the Discord server. They can be any length, though we will often run sprints from between 10 and 60 minutes long. It's easy to participate, all you need to do is pick up a book during any of the set times announced by the host of a reading sprint!
♦ Who can participate / do I have to have played BOTW to join?
Anyone can join! You don’t have to have played the game before, but if you plan on playing and don’t like to know the general storyline of the game beforehand, this may not be the readathon for you. We don’t spoil any secrets of the game, but do follow the main premise and take inspiration from various elements of the game. You also don’t need to participate in previous rounds in order to join one in the future.
♦ Does X work for Y challenge?
You can be as strict or loose with your interpretation of the challenges as you’d like. If you’re struggling and would like some suggestions, we have channels for each challenge in the Discord server where you can request or recommend books that would be suitable for each challenge.
♦ Can I complete the challenges in any order?
During The Quest rounds you should complete the challenges in the order laid out by your team's path. If you have the Glider Perk you may complete the challenges in any order you wish.
♦ Can I complete another team's challenges?
You can certainly complete more of the reading challenges in addition to your own, however doing so won't result in any perks. You are only able to substitute one of your challenges for another team’s if you are on Team Urbosa.
♦ What happens if I complete the 3 bonus challenges?
The 3 bonus challenges are completely optional so you don't need to complete them in order to reclaim the Divine Beasts, but you'll earn (or upgrade) the Horse Perk upon completion of all 3.
♦ What happens if I don't finish all of my challenges by the end of the round?
Completing all 5 challenges for your team in this round will give you an advantage in the final round of the readathon where we hope to defeat Calamity Ganon, but they are not necessary. You can still join in future rounds whether or not you miss a round entirely or don't manage to complete every main challenge. You're more than welcome to finish the challenges in your own time as well, if you wish.
