A federal jury awarded $7.5 million to parents and students represented by PACIFIC JUSTICE INSTITUTE after finding that Marlin Independent School District and its officials unlawfully retaliated against them for exercising their First Amendment rights following the cancellation of a high school graduation. The verdict affirmed that school officials who punish families for speaking out violate constitutional protections and will be held accountable.
