Paradise, Texas — November 30, 2022 Seven‑year‑old Athena Strand vanished from her father’s rural property in Wise County after a #fedex delivery arrived that afternoon. The driver, Tanner Lynn Horner, later confessed that he struck Athena with his truck, panicked, and abducted her out of fear she would tell her father. Investigators say Horner then strangled her and left her body in a remote area near Boyd, about nine miles away.

Authorities pieced together the timeline through digital evidence and Horner’s own statements. He was delivering a Christmas gift to Athena’s home when the incident occurred. After she went missing, her stepmother reported her disappearance, prompting an Amber Alert and a massive search involving local police, the FBI, and volunteers. Two days later, on December 2, Athena’s body was found.
