It seems like Ricciardoâs future in F1 wonât be decided as easily as we originally thought so. The Aussie is still a wanted topic on the grid, but his opportunities have started to narrow down so much that heâs been linked to a couple of reserve driver positions. Whatâs even more encouraging this fact is that Ricciardo himself said that he doesnât want to say he is âtoo proudâ to accept a reserve driver role, as he is open to any âscenarioâ unwinding for his future. After Alpine and Alpha Tauri have gone with their choices, and HAAS giving free practice sessions to Giovinazzi and Williams not being a well-desired destination for Ricciardo, the Aussie will likely play the long-term game. Ricciardoâs two seasons in McLaren were not something that he is very proud of, especially 2022 one. With 7 races remaining on the calendar, Ricciardo has scored just 19 points in the first half and that is truly disappointing given the fact that McLaren is the 5th team in the constructorsâ championship and is fighting for decent points mostly thanks to Norris. Nevertheless, Ricciardoâs future in F1 is hanging in the air, and the fact that he is performing as badly as he is, with his latest finish in Zandvoort being P17 out of 18 drivers finishing the race, the situation isnât keen for him.
