In Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, women are confronting social inequality, environmental damage, and limited access to education. This film follows several of them as they work within their communities to create change.
In the fishing village of Ibrahim Haidiri, 22-year-old Muqaddas Tahir campaigns to protect mangrove forests threatened by illegal logging. In a region where 200,000 people depend on fishing, she mobilizes young people to defend an ecosystem vital to their livelihood.
Saba Edhi, of the Edhi Foundation, oversees women’s shelters and children’s homes, offering protection and support to vulnerable women. Architect Yasmeen Lari, educated at Oxford Brookes University, now focuses on sustainable, low-cost housing solutions after the 2022 floods displaced 33 million people.
In Umerkot, Aansoo Kohli founded a school that now educates 500 children, advocating especially for girls’ education despite resistance and hardship.
Through these stories, the film portrays women in Karachi and beyond working to shape their country’s future.
