A citizen take-down this Tuesday afternoon in northwest Harris County helped Pct. 4 deputy constables nab a man driving a stolen truck.
"I just ran behind him and tackled him down," said the good Samaritan named Devin.
The former track athlete from Westfield High School said he also worked as a trained security guard for two years. The combined experience kicked in as he witnessed the end of the law enforcement pursuit.
"I saw the suspect running all the way down and he was already 50 yards from the officer. So, I turned around, sped up, blocked him in and I got out of the car and started running," Devin said.
Authorities said it all began when a toll road unit spotted the stolen truck on Beltway 8 and tried to pull him over. They said the driver refused to stop and the pursuit began as the suspect drove up and down the Beltway near Fairbanks and in and out of neighborhoods before finally stopping behind an industrial complex.
Camera caught the suspect on camera as he got out of the car and began to run away, but moments later Devin says his instincts kicked in.
"I was not even thinking, I just got out like a hero moment," said the 26-year-old.
Driving home from work, he spotted the end of the pursuit and watched as the suspect got over a security fence and started running down Fairbanks. Devin used his car to try to block the suspect, then got out and began sprinting after him, losing both of his shoes in the process as he went after the suspect, who was also barefoot.

A driver suspected of a traffic violation led San Diego police on a crawling pursuit through San Diego neighborhoods Thursday morning before officers cornered the vehicle near Bird Park.
The small black hatchback with something dangling from its rear bumper was moving at speeds less than 10 mph as it led San Diego police through turn after turn in the North Park area just after 7 a.m.,

The San Diego Police Department said a traffic stop was initiated at 32nd Street for erratic driving, but the driver did not stop.

Police laid a spike strip on Texas Street, which punctured the hatchback's tires, SDPD said. But the driver continued, now at a lethargic pace.

At least a half-dozen vehicles followed the hatchback for about 30 minutes, though the pursuit likely traveled only a few miles.
At about 7:25 a.m., two police cars blocked the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Pershing Place just north of Bird Park and prevented the vehicle from continuing

Police then completely surrounded the vehicle with their own cars, making sure there was no way it could move an inch.
Even still, the driver still did not come out.
About a dozen police officers then approached the driver’s side window, but the driver did not come out. Officers could be seen communicating away from the hatchback before several police cars left the scene.

A driver and two passengers were taken into custody in Anaheim Thursday afternoon after a pursuit from L.A. to Orange County.
L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies began pursuing the alleged reckless driver in the Lakewood area before the chase made its way into Orange County.
About 12:22 p.m., the driver drove into a parking lot in Garden Grove to cut through traffic and continued onto surface streets in Anaheim.

A minute later, the driver stopped in another parking lot and was boxed in by the Sheriff’s Department vehicles and deputies drew their weapons.
The driver and two passengers eventually got out and were taken into custody.
The driver was originally suspected of being under the influence, but no further details about the incident have been released.
