A family from Brampton, Ont. is still waiting for answers on the whereabouts of their beloved husband, father, and community pillar who went missing in the Nepal flash flood.

Mahendra Gupta, a 68-year-old devout Hindu, was part of a trekking group in Nepal when the flash flood swept through the region.

Gupta’s son Yogesh says the family last heard from his father on Tuesday evening, adding, “I need to know what happened… regardless of the answer, I need answers.”

The family is calling on the Canadian government to establish a dedicated emergency response centre to support families, as some prepare to travel to the region themselves.
