Waltz in A-flat major, by Johannes Brahms, is a relatively short waltz with the formal structure ABA'.
The first section, A, introduces the main theme in the home tonality of A-flat major. After a repeat, the middle section B begins with a short development, followed by the reappearence of the main theme in the home tonality.
The last section adds some variations to the theme using triplets on the right hand, ending the piece with a perfect cadence in A-flat major.
The waltz, part of the 16 short waltzes for piano, was composed in 1865. Brahms wrote the piece for piano four hands, but also gave an arrangment for piano solo.
