The boyfriend of American mother-of-one Jamey Carney (43) is set to remain in detention in Jordan until authorities in Amman are briefed in detail on the investigation into her death in Kerry.
Ahmad Al-Saqar (28) could potentially be detained in Jordan for months.
The Irish Independent has learnt that, even if the Jordanian authorities fully co-operate with the Irish investigation, gardaí will not be able to directly interview him.
He will have his detention reviewed by a Jordanian judge next week – as Irish authorities insisted the detention in the Middle Eastern country was not at their request.
