The online mode Nintendo didn't dare add... with some reason, it turns out. Sure, this mod has a few issues ("Princess Luigi" in the cutscene, poor Toad's missing arms, characters turning into Mario in the other screens, Cat Mario breakdancing in the fight scene, whatever's going on with Peach there) but it's still an impressive technical achievement and more importantly, pretty fun.
