I still love the bowflex max (bought by Johnson Health Tech during bowflex 2023/2024 bankruptcy) but its been about a year since I used it. That doesn't mean that I am out of shape, actually quiet the opposite. What it means is that even a full year, even a 969 year old vampire can max the weight resistance out on this and barely break a sweat and never touch a water bottle for the entire workout ..... thats in pretty good shape for my age.
There is one thing i don't like about the jrny subscription and I have been contemplating if I will renew it or not. They kinda have you trapped. If you renew it, you get all the workouts and stuff you always have that are updated but they haven't released a single explore the world video ever since bowflex filed bankruptcy and was bought out by Johnson Health Tech. So you are kinda stuck with whatever explore the world videos existed before the bankruptcy and probably will never be updated (are you listening to me share holders??). The way you are trapped though is, without the jrny subscription you only get basic workout programs ... the factory settings and very basic or manual (which I did for 2 years until I got the free 1 year jrny subscription when I bought the treadmill and it really helped a lot with encouraging me to work out more often just so I could watch all the "explore the world" scenic videos all over the world). But is the price worth it? I mean, a gym membership is about the same price, $149 a year but then you have to leave your house. I own 2 bowflex machines .... and they both get subscription use from a single subscription ... I just really wish they would add more explore the world videos ... the ones they have are getting kinda stale to me since I have watched the best ones over and over and some are just "blah". I also wish they would add more "forest and trails" for trail runners like myself.
But the machines do what they are supposed to do. As an example, I used to love to run when I was in school, didn't run most of my adult life, but after cancer it was a goal to run again. In just 1 year of owning the treadmill, I ran lots of short runs teaching myself to properly run again, then ran numerous 5k's sub 30 minutes (that was my goal, fastest was 26:45) and 2 x 10 k's with the fastest being 56:14 (again, pretty good for my age) . I think I would have beat those times again but I started a cardio demanding job and even though I kept training for the first 2 months of that job, I started to get signs of over-use injuries so I cut back aka stopped training entirely. Toward the end of that, a year ago, I logged my fastest mile at 5:57 (almost 11 mph)
