Tired of the master sword being unreliable and not currently willing to pay for DLC which doesn't completely fix the problem? Boy do I have a solution for you: an age old glitch which maybe you have already heard about, holding a multi shot bow with shock arrows, drop and repeat until link is glitched, then change to another item (you shouldn't hear the CLUNK sound which plays when you switch items normally) and exit the menu, now next you can use the item type you switched from to copy durability to the item you selected in the glitched menu, OR you can duplicate the originally selected item by going back into the glitched menu after this and then dropping the newly selected item. Ta-da! Pick up bows to cancel the glitch, sometimes putting away the held bow also cancels it I think. Switch the glitched weapon type after cancelling the glitch if you did durability transfer (seen in the video).
Note: That hammer is pretty durable, get it from monster man, he wants monster (enemy) parts in exchange to give you the hammer. It is measured to have a durability of 80, think hylian shield is 800 and ancient bow is 120 and nothing is higher than these, not counting Amiibo. Find him at the top right corner of the map, at the eye of a left skull on the map in northwest akkala region, near a shrine, with any divine beast saved. After finding him, go to a town like kakariko at night, if you go to kakariko shrine then you will see where he is, it's obvious, that's where you trade monster parts for the hammer to copy to a weapon. After copying to a weapon, restart the glitch before copying to another weapon for maximum durability. You do not need to restart the glitch for drop cloning.
Master sword note: In awakened form, each hit consumes only 0.2 durability out of a base of 40 except for the last 3 hits which come after the low durability indicator. So people calculate it as (Base-3)/0.2+3, plug in 40 and get 188. If you get this hammer item and swing it against the ground which I assume depletes it by one, plug in 79 as the base and get 383. So this glitch can make the master sword last up to 383 hits, compared to the usual 188 hits. That's 195 extra hits, and if the hits are done with level 3 attack modifier, you do 90*output of damage, with 188 standard that's 16,920 damage, and with the glitche version it's 34,470 damage. Compared to the glitched rg claymore which is 116 atk but consuming 79 durability, 116*1.5*79=13,746
(1.5 is level 3 attack, that's where 90 dmg from awakened ms comes from)
This means that with glitched durability applied to the highest damaging weapon in the game with level 3 attack modifier, awakened master sword still gets 2.5 times as much damage done due to unique durability consumption mechanic in the awakened form, up till the last 3 hits!
Reliable place to do the glitch: Korok forest. In placed with little activity, you may not be able to activate the glitch if you don't have a bunch of multi shot bows.
Note I did not find this... also I cloned Hylian shield and I transferred ancient bow durability to a 5 shot sl bow and then cloned that glitched bow, I also transferred durability from that hammer to a 116 atk rg claymore. And I have the bow of light because I used another glitch to do newgame+ and start the game with it. :P
