I'm back to doing Breath of the Wild any% speedruns to improve my time. My PB is a 22:56 and the WR is 22:51 so we're pretty close!

Tears of the Kingdom speedruns are back just in time for switch 2! This run was using the newest rusty deer route which is just as weird as it sounds and probably saves ~40 seconds over the shock arrow smuggle route I did last time I ran this category (over a year ago now). The route is super cool and I hope you guys enjoy catching up on whats been happening in TotK speedrunning since a lot has changed.

BONK! Master Mode is different from normal mode because they patched out the stunlock that we normally use to deal with calamitys second phase. So instead we find more creative ways to get around phase 2s invincibility using the weapons from the conveniently placed Lynel on the Great Plateau. I havent done runs of Master Mode any% in around 2 and a half years so there was plenty of room for optimization both from new strats and better play overall. The lynel drops are RNG so the category isnt super fun to grind so while sub 24 is super doable with a bit better RNG I think Im satisfied for now.

BotW 100% includes basically everything in the game including all 900 koroks, all main shrine and side quests, all 120 shrines, 100% map completion including named locations, all 84 minibosses, etc. With the switch 2 weve been able to save a ton of time because of shorter load times and because this speedrun relies mostly on windbombs, the loss of BLSS isnt felt nearly as much. This is the first 14:1X but with 4 or so easy minutes to save during day 1 I dont think Im done quite yet. Pretty solid day 2 though.

The switch 2 edition is pretty fast! But to unlock its full potential you have to speedrun it on master mode because of windblight skip not working at 60 fps for the normal mode route. This is one of the most unique routes Ive seen for Breath of the Wild which has made running switch 2 edition for the past few weeks very fun. Shoutouts to Huiwengege for coming up with most of the strats here and stay tuned for a commentated run of this in the near future
