Did you know that Botox is not the only way out of jaw pain? In fact, as this study shows the relief could cost you a trade off. Neck pain, shoulder tension, increased joint clicking are not uncommon shortly following Botox treatment, but it’s often not seen as connected.

As an acupuncturist, these relationships are real. This 2021 study, conducted by oral surgeons and experts in jaw neuroscience, gives us measured evidence that Botox patients experienced pain relief, but at the “severe” cost of muscle power and chewing function. They even labeled this an “adverse effect” of Botox.

In Chinese medicine practice we don’t think you should ever have to sacrifice your body's function to live without pain. It’s not a tradeoff that necessarily pays off in the long run.

That’s why Chinese Medicine is so valuable in our world today. It holds the possibility of restoring your vitality and resilience while helping you relieve pain and correct dysfunction.

I’d love to hear your experience!
❔ Have you used Botox or Acupuncture for jaw pain? If not which would you rather?
❔ Have you ever noticed an increase in neck pain, shoulder tension, or more TMJ clicking after reduction of jaw pain?
