I cant even begin to tell you how much of a journey this track was. The original WIP was made back in early 2020, along with Stars intro. I finished the track recently, and completed most of the video, but my entire hard drive with all my morpho files got corrupted. I was able to salvage the morpho medley files, but lost all my progress on this video, so basically I had to redo the the whole thing (aside from including the pre-made assets from Star and James)
Star opted to make some new pieces for the video, and that inspired a longer track. Ultimately I cannot express how excited I am to share this with you and I think it is without a doubt one of the best medleys on my channel. Im just sorry obviously that it took so damn long to finally reach you.
The “Morpho Medley” is a series of 2021 remix medleys deriving inspiration from several characters in the Kirby franchise. (Primarily centered around boss themes) These tracks are loosely based on the medleys that play during the fight with Morpho Knight in Star Allies. Star Abraham is responsible for the primary artwork in this series, and Jameson Mozelle is behind the gameplay edits featured in the background. When played in chronological order, these tracks will lead into each other and thematically share characteristics. At the end of this series, I will release a video with the entire medley.

For some stupid reason, I’ve made it a point for each upload to break some kind of new ground for the channel. I’m not sure if this kind of thinking is even remotely healthy, because I start to fear that I’ll eventually reach a point where I can’t move forward anymore. That hasn’t been a problem yet, because I’ve been granted amazing opportunities with each new video. Please understand, these opportunities are not my own doing. Mind in a PROGRAM served as a vessel to introduce many people to my channel. Star Abraham then offered to create personalized artwork for the next upload, (And many after) which was spectacular. Then TNH got mixed into the equation, and the Star Dream Medley was born. (Seriously, I felt intimidated to fill those shoes since TNH wrecked the scene with that phase 5 midi)
So, I eventually tried to do the same with this upload… Let’s reach some new heights!... Right? Well, much of the time I spent working on any given track, I wanted to tell myself that I could get a little leeway. “The video is pushing an hour in length; it’ll be alright if I just phone it in for a few minutes.” The same thought occurred to me with the video editing. “The viewers will understand… I don’t have to incorporate all this crap. It’s just too much!” But come on, really. If I may say so, there’s someone out there who just won’t let you settle for less. You’ll always end up going to the place you said youd never be. That goes for everyone.
My intention was to name this album “Sketched!” because it was themed after the artist characters from the Kirby series. (Where the devil is Claycia?) I was thinking about the sheer freedom for improvisations, (with the video and the audio) and then the spectacular artwork from Star Abraham… Nah, I think the name “Sketched!” now refers to the blank canvas I was given with the opportunity of this album. I’m disgustingly blessed.
Speaking of names, I’ll let you guys interpret where the track titles come from. That’s far more interesting and meaningful… but is it also a cop-out?
Theres one more track I have planned to do soon, but it probably wont end up on my YouTube page. (Perhaps someone elses?) We shall see.
After that... Im thinking of stepping into the realm of some other games again... What do you guys think? Perhaps Ill do something with Zelda/Sonic/Pokemon. I dont think Ill ever stop with Kirby, though.

This track was my pick! Really special song, very near and dear to my heart. Also REALLY HARD! One of the toughest tracks I’ve put together in a while. I think that’s simply because I’m trying to do proper service to the vocals. It can be intimidating when you’re working with largely synthetic instruments to try to create a track that doesn’t sound “cheap” coupled with an authentic singing voice. The percussion here in particular took a while to put together, and just to add the human element, I dubbed my own guitar playing pretty deep into the background. (I’m a beginner, so I didn’t want it to take the auditory spotlight here) Between you and me, I did the vast majority of this video the night before last night… from like 11 pm to 5 am. Really really REALLY wanted to have this out on Sunday like my schedule plans for, but Final Cut Pro has developed a glitch where it sometimes create green squares on certain frames of the screen, like for no reason. It’s really, really annoying. But that gave me a chance to clean up a few other things.
It’s really nice when you’re having a shitty day and you look on YouTube to find out that folks are understanding of your situation.
First time doing a vocal track for the channel and I wanted to make a good first impression. Crush40 and All Ends FTW. This one goes out to anyone who’s struggling to make a tough decision in their life.

The meshing of Dark Castle and Dark Matter might seem to lack continuity... Sometimes it can be hard to find tracks that I haven’t done and likewise tracks to combine into a proper medley. I’ve tried to keep my track references more local to the game(s) that the track is based on, and I’ve gotten some very valid criticisms regarding the overuse of random motifs in order to fill empty space in the cover. I was super lucky that both these tracks were present in Robobot and DL2, so it kind of makes sense. For the time being, I consider this track to be one of the best compositions on my channel. Simplistic tracks are essentially a template for improvisation, so it was fun. 5:12 is actually a callback to the old Dark Matter SNES remix I did. You know, I tend to get self referential, and it feels a little bit narcissistic sometimes... But I suppose it makes sense... SINCE MY USER NAME......

Dark Matter is one of the most pervasive characters in the series. Sadly, the final boss of Dreamland 2 is not often on any top 10s, and people don’t refer to the theme(s) often when recounting their favorite memories from the series. (Both themes in KDL2 are very short and somewhat repetitive, though they have groovy bass-lines) More often than not, Dark Matter is overshadowed by characters like Marx, 02, and even Nightmare. The truth is, in his raw form, Dark Matter shows up in some badass boss battles, and I consider the Dreamland 2 incarnation to be one of the most difficult non-arena challenges in the series. (though it may be short-lived) I just found out yesterday that Kirby gets fried by the atmosphere if you wait too long during the fight. What the hell is that.
Basically, Dark Matter deserves some love. He’s everywhere. Hes a nice guy. Right? So, this upload doubles as a tribute to the character itself and the longevity of its influence on one of the greatest video game series’ ever made. Don’t fuck with Dark Matter.
