Here I do a DIY job trying improve the diesel injectors in a Freelander TD4 which is the BMW engine, similar to that used in the 1 and 3 series 320d etc, The following is shown:
- injector removal
- injector testing outside the engine using the cars systems
- dismantling and cleaning the injectors
- testing the spray pattern
- doing a leak back test, with a quicker and more precise method with ml/sec numbers
BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO ALLOW THE DIESEL INJECTOR SPRAYS NEAR YOUR SKIN. IT IS VERY HIGH PRESSURE AND CAN INJECT INTO YOU AND POISON YOU. WEAR GLOVES, A FACE AND EYE MASK.

When dismantling the injectors look out for any additional small parts that may come out, e.g. small spring under the shim disc. Dismantle over a clean tissue in a tray ideally.
