The Stitchess | πΈπ Boring 80s Sweater to Adorable Creepy Cute Top ππΈ @TheStitchess | Uploaded June 2020 | Updated October 2024, 43 minutes ago.
If you were wondering about the top I wore in my menhera video, then this is the sewing vlog for you! I don't consider this top to be completely perfect but... it has it's own charm in sort of a punk rock way. This was originally a sweater from the 80s, but it had quite a few holes and stains and wasn't wearable at all in it's condition. I think this belonged to my grandmother at one point and it didn't fit her? It was given to me sometime when I was in high school (so like... a decade ago) and I've had it floating around ever since. How minimalist of me. But then this whole stay home thing happened and I've been hurting for craft supplies so now it's a kawaii top! Well, a creepy cute top. I don't think this 100% fits into menhera (although the skin melting thing is a chronic illness relatable feel) but I'm not really sure what else to call it. If you can think of a good name for the style this fits, let me know in the comments!
Hi! I'm The Stitchess! I'm an interdisciplinary artist and seamstress. I started sewing when I was 8 and loved it so much I made it the focus of my study in college. After a lifetime of battling severe mental health issues - I found healing in the radical softness and Japanese kawaii communities. As much as I love fashion and clothing, I also think it's important to consider how and where clothing is made. I went fast fashion free at the start of 2019 to voice my concerns over the rapid consumerism gripping the garment industry. By no means am I perfect, but I think it's important to show that change is a process. I believe it is always important to strive to be better, even if perfection is unattainable. Thank you so much for letting me share my art and process with you. I hope we can all grow together ^-^
