Deception, disconnection, alienation, lies, abuse, segregation - Border Song is a spiritual-sounding song that, for me at least, is very relatable in society as it exists at present; everything that is going on echoes a lot of the lines in this song - 'I have seen the spectre', 'I have been deceived', 'Going back to the border where my affairs ain't abused'.. etc. In a sense it is just about someone looking for their tribe, and wanting to escape a world that just isn't in line with their values. An early song by Elton John & Bernie Taupin; this one helped pave the way for all the hits that were to follow.
