Page Turners with Katja | Book Review of Tess Sharpe's The Girls I've Been & Info for Endometriosis Awareness Month @PageTurnersWithKatja | Uploaded March 2021 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
Hi Everyone
In this video I review The Girl's I've been by Tess Sharpe, and then provide some general information about Endometriosis and my personal experience of living with the chronic condition. March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.
Time Stamps
00:00 Book Review
07:00 Endometriosis Awareness
What I haven't put in the video - as I will get emotional about it, and I don't want to today - is that it took 20 years for my diagnosis Having had a severe case of fibroids it's not until I underwent surgery of several hours to remove numerous benign tumours that my consultant confirmed something I had said to all the medical professionals involved in my care.
Scans couldn't confirm my diagnosis but in surgery they noted deep infiltrating adhesions with tissue on my bowel and bladder, and a large mass of tissue which explained further bowel discomfort. I had already been in surgery the maximum time I could be so I was offered the opportunity to undergo surgery again in a year.
I should have mentioned that while some sites state that the condition is caused by the lining, that other sites say it is caused by cells similar to endometrial cells.
