Smith observes that the Apocalypse of John, when situated in the context of Roman Asia Minor, portrays the act of conquering paradoxically. He concludes that Revelation's recipients were urged to imitate the Lamb's manner of conquering, particularly by maintaining the witness of Jesus and by enduring without resorting to violence.
