In the History Channels new documentary, Who Really Discovered America? Dr. James DelGado of the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, points out the improbability of surviving a voyage from Saudi Arabia across the Indian and Pacific oceans. Using 'drifters' that track ocean currents they found that it would take approximately 580 days or three months shy of two entire years to make such a voyage. Water and food for so long a journey are virtually impossible. This is very strong evidence against the notion of Lehi's voyage going this route to end up on the west coast of Central or South America as proposed by Mesoamerican theorists.
