*This video was pre-filmed on May 29th. I have previously separated art from the artist when it comes to John Boyne due to the true beauty in his writing. However, he has again come out with transphobic views and fully supports JKR in hers. While I think The Heart's Invisible Furies is a beautiful book that tells a really important story of the gay Irish community, I understand people who may not want to read it. If you do, I would encourage people to borrow it via their library or a friend.

Another book I would recommend in place of this would be The Lonely Hearts Hotel by Heather O'Neill. It's quite dark and gritty but full of strange and wonderful characters that bring a lot of light into the story.*
