Pisidia Heritage Trail (PHT) is a 350-kilometre-long, archaeology-themed trekking route that connects 12 ancient cities across stunning landscapes. The comprehensive guidebook ‘Pisidia Heritage Trail: Hiking Through Ancient Sites and Highlands of the Western Taurus Mountains, Turkey’ describes the archaeological and natural heritage of Pisidia, and their modern inhabitants. In this panel, many of the experts who have contributed to the creation of the PHT as well as the guidebook will share their knowledge on this ancient region.
PHT builds on the results of several BIAA-led projects and was created with the aim of creating social and economic benefits for the communities that live by the archaeological sites along the trail. The guidebook puts together 3D reconstructions of some of the visible remains, a text written in an interpretive style and enriched by findings from botanical and ethnographic studies, and a waymarked trail offering the possibility of exploring the region on foot. The ultimate aim is to establish a timeless relationship between the ancient people of Pisidia and the readers of this book today.
