Some other fun facts about the Swirl Lamp Machine not included in this video:
-Since September 2020 I'd been planning a massive machine spanned across the basement that would be centralized around ball multi-uses. This plan fell through due to time constraints, but the tricks from that plan that I incorporated into this machine were the Newton's Cradle trick, ball ricochet launch, green slinky ball drop, sliding green marble track, tilting marble track, flexing parallelogram V track lift, and flexing parallelogram path redirector. The other ideas may be implemented into future projects shall I find the time to build them.
-The trick with the bouncy ball is the chamber that flips 180 degrees was created only because I'd initially designed the chamber for the track elevator trick. The trick came into existence when I built it spontaneously upon fitting a bouncy ball inside of it and was surprised by how well my first design worked.
-The ping pong chain trick exists only because I'd built the chain early on for a different trick that was scrapped due to its simplicity and lack of appealingness to the audience. I had planned on cutting the mechanism entirely throughout the building process until the end when I thought it could be interesting to have multiple free-moving balls roll free from the chain at once.
-The flexing cross trick was rejected for aesthetic purposes, but the drinking bird trick was removed only because I ran out of space
The sliding green marble track trick is my least favorite trick in the machine.
-I filmed this machine primarily without my standard overhead lighting as it created a glare on the bookshelf (and then forgot to turn the lights back on when filming certain parts of the screenlink)
-I had to turn the volume down during the working take of the machine due to the noise created by the Newton's Cradle throughout the run time of the machine.
-The marbles between the two shots of the tilting marble track board in the machine as a screenlink are different. This was because one of the angles was reshot far after filming concluded due to a shadow I hadn't noticed in the previous take. Most of the machine had been taken down but fortunately, the marble track was one of the last tricks I'd left standing when I noticed the impurity so I was able to get a reshoot.
-The billiard ball segment at the end took 7 takes to get right
