To kill Katherine, Bonnie and Damon had to unit their forces. They started to become close but Bonnie is still on her guard when thinking about him. Bonnie decided it was time to find her mother and she found her in a mental institute. She was put there because she became crazy because of her powers. This video started after this.

Bonnie is afraid she will become like her mother and confides in Damon.
She is starting to have breakdowns and no control over her powers. The vampire is really getting worried about her.
When she has to make a spell, he sees she is afraid and tells her he will stay with her. During the spell, Bonnie has a vision of Damon killing her. From that point, she is staying as far as possible of him. Damon can't stop thinkg about Bonnie and realizes his feelings changed.
Bonnie decides to block her powers against Damon's will. She does it but she is risking her life. Bonnie is sent by her father in a clinic (thinking she tried to kill herself).
When she comes back in town, she tells Damon that their friendship is over and she has a job to do here. On a job, they met with Isobel who claims that Damon is in love with Bonnie....
