Bones

This song came to me after watching an episode of Time Team where a skeleton was uncovered during an archaeological dig. I began to wonder (as did the Time Team) about the story behind the bones so I wrote it from the perspective of the skeleton.
It's a song of two halves really. I'm not sure how the coda/end part of the song came about but it was definitely a spontaneous addition. The repeated, “Rescue me, let me be no longer silent” was as if the skeleton, now discovered, was trying to tell its tragic tale, and find a way home.
Fully recorded, mixed and mastered in GarageBand on MacOS.
A basic instrument set up of drums, bass, lead guitar, a couple of rhythm acoustic guitars, lead vocals, atmospheric synths and some backing vocals.
I originally recorded the song a semitone higher but decided that it would sound better vocally in the slightly lower key. Instead of re-recording the guitar parts again I simply changed the key of the project however transposing the song down like this created a slight pulsing effect on the guitar audio. I'm a big fan of serendipity and I quite liked how it sounded. To me it seemed to add to the intensity in some way.
The only other quirky thing on the track happened during recording. I was trying to create a sort of synth swell/buzzing sound under the end section of the song but I couldn't quite get it the way I wanted so I just picked up the mic and sang the part. All I then had to do was to add a few vocal effects to distort my voice and it was complete.
The video was compiled in iMovie.
