The review and content of this video is highly personal, as it involves a family member who suffered a similar fate to the subject matter.
I want to preface that I will not be showing the faces of Candace’s murderers, as they are free and out in the world. This case is still a fresh wound to my family, so I do not want to draw attention to us. You’ll see that in the lack of hashtags involving the murder itself.
Today I will be discussing Bone Black by Carol Rose GoldenEagle and the correlations between Missing Murdered Indigenous Women & GIrls, Two-Spirit and Men as well as the case of Candace Rough Surface. I read this book during the month of November for IndigAThon, a month long readathon that takes place during Native American heritage month.
