Alongside long-time collaborator Drake, Boi-1da pointed hip-hop into new directions at the end of the 2000s with hits like “Forever” and “Best I Ever Had.” To say it all went fast from there would be a massive understatement.
Sitting on the couch at the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy, the young Jamaican producer explained how addiction to making beats on FruityLoops led to beat battles and an eventual career-changing hook up with the “light-skinned guy from Degrassi.”
