3/2/25 UPDATE: BOI is officially finished!! The Treasury Department announced it would no longer enforce the Corporate Transparency Act, nor enforce any penalties or fines associated with beneficial ownership reporting under the existing regulatory deadlines.
12/27 UPDATE: as of just a couple hours ago, the Fifth Circuit reversed their own stay while they're deciding the case. This means the injunction is back on and there's currently no enforceable BOI reporting requirement.
Urgent Update: With days to go before the beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting deadline, the U.S. Fifth Circuit has granted the government’s emergency motion for a stay pending the appeal. That means that the nationwide ban on filing reports is no longer in place—the deadline for companies that existed before January 1, 2024, to report is January 1, 2025.
Big news for small business owners! The Corporate Transparency Act, which required BOI (Beneficial Ownership Information) reporting, has been ruled unconstitutional and blocked nationwide.
