On July 15, 2000, Mike Hanson covertly infiltrated one of America's most mysterious gatherings, the Bohemian Grove. This exclusive retreat has drawn some of the nation's most powerful businessmen, bankers, politicians, and influential figures to its secluded forested enclave north of San Francisco for over a century.

Hanson’s incursion allowed him to witness a ritual later described with an almost apocalyptic fervor, labeling it an “ancient Canaanite, Luciferian, Babylon mystery religion ceremony.” What he saw was the Cremation of Care, an elaborate initiation rite that marks the beginning of the Bohemian Club's annual summer retreat.

The effigy is set ablaze amid chants, songs, and invocations, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display. The burning of Dull Care represents a temporary banishment of the participants' anxieties, allowing them to indulge in carefree revelry.

Throughout its history, the Cremation of Care has served as a stage for performances by some of the Bohemian Club's most prominent figures, such as former U.S. President George H. W. Bush, actor Clint Eastwood, and news anchor Walter Cronkite.

Despite the bemusing nature of the performances, Bohemian Grove’s secrecy and its members' significant political and economic clout have always fueled suspicion and speculation. The ritualistic burning of Care may seem frivolous, but it serves a deeper psychological purpose for those who partake...
