In July of 1978, Bob McBride was let go from his contract with MCA Records. This was a relationship that lasted two years and spawned an album and four singles. All of these were released in an attempt to capture the success of his 1976 MCA debut single "Seasons/Doin' It," but unfortunately fell short.

During 1977-1978, Bob McBride was struggling in a multitude of ways, but the one area that wasn't in the proverbial swamp was his ability as a singer and songwriter. This period saw him write nearly two dozen original songs. The lack of chart success post-Seasons, however, saw an insistence on more covers during the MCA period. This was frustrating and a far cry from the Capitol Records days, when his debut and sophomore records were wholly original efforts, 90% written by Bob.

Bob McBride was signed to London Records in the late summer of 1978. He was working with a new band called Expedition throughout most of that year. This group featured Debbie Schaal and Ricky Yorke on backing vocals, Richard Horbatiuk on bass, Gary Gies on drums, Francois Valentyne on keyboards, and the pair of John Shand and Miles Wilkinson on guitar.
