Fifty-third video. One of my favorite but relatively uncommon background music tracks on a Game Boy game, this plays exclusively for Chapter 2, Story 3 in Wario Land II. The name of the level is "Get in the Tea Cup"; I titled it "Board the S.S. Teacup" for the sake of adding detail and formality.
This video presents two, arguably three firsts for me. First of the firsts, it's the first time I've used Mario Paint Composer 2, an update of the original program that was an update of the original game for SNES. I make use of the four new instruments (most noticeably the Boos which sound like harps) and the arrange function in this piece. Second first, it's the first track that I've done from Wario Land II, one of the first Game Boy games I've ever owned and also one of my favorite (though it is very frustrating at times). Third first, though this is subjective, I don't normally do sad, reflective themes such as this one; I consider this the first theme I've done that was somber.
This is actually the third time I've tried making this particular theme, (not that I told anyone of the other two times). The first time, I used Mario heads for the background part, but didn't know what to do because the part went to high. The second time, I realized that I could use stars to cover for the high parts, but then I realized that the theme went too low and abandoned ship. However, Mario Paint Composer 2 and the Boos and coins were "just what I needed" to rectify the problem, and so I was able to make this beautiful piece. My main complaint with Composer 2 is that if you use the arrange feature, it blocks the tempo of your songs.
browncoatkevin wins a cookie for being the closest to the actual tempo of this song (564)!
If you are jealous and want to win a cookie like browncoatkevin, check out my newest videos and try to guess the tempo within a week of their release (since the actual tempo is hidden by the arrange feature of Mario Paint Composer v2). Whoever is closest receives a cookie! Please don't rip off this gimmick.
