![Log Trains to Rockwood [on the Durango and Silverton]
During a fire mitigation project in early 2024, Colorados Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad volunteered rail equipment and crews to move logs from the job site to waiting log trucks at Rockwood. Most of the work was done with a former White Pass and Yukon MLW diesel number 101. For one day (just for our cameras) K-36 steam locomotive number 480 was steamed up to pull the log train. Steam combined with cold winter air made for an unforgettable experience.
Some of these scenes appear in our DVD and Blu-ray Todays Durango and Silverton. Visit 7ideaproductions.com https://www.7ideaproductions.com/collections/frontpage/products/todays-durango-and-silverton

![Union Pacifics Idaho Main Line [Part 1]
Etching a course through Southern Idaho and along its western border with Oregon, the Snake River provides a natural route for Union Pacific trains heading to and from the Pacific Northwest. This is the route of the Oregon Short Line, and trains have been rolling through this wild and scenic country since 1884.
In Part 1 of this two-part series, we are focusing on the western portion of the line from Huntington, Oregon to Nampa, Idaho. The scenery transitions from rugged canyons to rich agricultural land and industry as trains sprint through the lush Treasure Valley. We will visit the communities of Weiser and Payette, Idaho before crossing the Snake River back into Oregon at Ontario and on through Nyssa. Crossing one last time into Idaho, the line continues along the course of the Boise River to the southeast through Parma, Notus, and Caldwell before arriving at the division point of Nampa.
Several mixed manifest trains are seen daily, along with hot Z trains, and heavy soda ash trains from Wyoming. An army of locals work out of Nampa and a few branch lines are seen in action like the Oregon Eastern Railroad at Ontario and the Boise Valley Railroad at Caldwell.

![The Funnel [BNSF Spokane, WA to Sandpoint, ID]
This program was originally released on DVD in 2013.
Since the days of the Burlington Northern, The Funnel has seen some of the heaviest rail traffic in the Northwest. Now part of the busy BNSF Northern Transcon, this 70 mile-long corridor between Spokane, Washington and Sandpoint, Idaho is still a railfan magnet.
7idea Productions paid several visits to this scenic line in different seasons. Our tour begins at Latah Junction where trains roll in and out of downtown Spokane. The tracks travel in a northeasterly direction into the Idaho panhandle before crossing the 5,000 foot Lake Pend Oreille Bridge and arriving at Sandpoint Junction. Unit grain trains, coal, intermodal, vehicle, manifests and the new Bakken oil trains all use this important route.
With over 50 trains per day on a line with several sections of single track, dispatchers and crews have to stay on their toes to keep things rolling. From clear summer days, to cold winter nights, this is great railroad action you dont want to miss!
