I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING! (Oh my gosh, it's been such a long time since I last wrote that phrase)
Hello, YouTube, and Happy New Year! Bet you forgot about me. Not only has it been forever since I last uploaded something (other than that one short), but it's been an even LONGER time since I last did an AMV of any kind (I think nowadays they're called fancams, or just edits, but eh, mine don't have fancy effects or a vertical/square format, so I'll keep calling them AMVs).
I hadn't felt inspiration to actually sit down and edit one of these in a long time. And I don't mean that lightly, you can check it out on my channel. The last one I did was over three years ago. So what changed? Well, this little video here was born from the inspiration I felt from two little things:
The first of which, of course, is the wonderful show that is Bluey. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of you have already watched it considering what a boom in popularity it has gotten. What else can I say about it that hasn't been said a hundred times before? It really is such a charming and clever show that truly anyone can enjoy. I've grown to love these characters so much, the writing is great and relatable, the animation and background designs/palettes are beautiful, AAAAAAHHH it's all just so good! It's definitely become my new MLP. (Sorry G5, you're cool for what you are, but I just haven't been able to get into you like I wished)
And the second is, as you can probably guess, the new Matilda the Musical movie. Even if I still prefer the 1996 version when it comes to characters and pacing, I was in awe of the musical elements of the new one! I didn't know much about the original Matilda musical other than a couple of songs from it, but watching this new movie really made me feel like I was watching a play, right from the opening number to the finale. I'm definitely gonna be listening to the songs on loop for a while (and probably also check out the OG musical's soundtrack too so I can hear those missing songs).
So yes, as soon as I heard this fun song, I couldn't help but start visualizing a Bluey AMV set to it. For a moment, I considered making Bingo Matilda in this, since she's the more sensitive and intellectual of the sisters, and also would probably relate more to the struggles of being little, since she's the youngest. But since this was an independent AMV and not a set, I ultimately decided that Bluey was the better choice, because of her scenes with books, using magic (Matilda's telekinesis), and being naughty (or cheeky, as she would say 😉). Plus, on top of everything, this voice just sounds a lot like Bluey. Is it just me?
I can't tell you guys if I'm going to keep making BMVs (that's definitely not the name LOL) on a semi-regular basis or not, since real life, art, and work often tend to keep me quite preoccupied. But I gotta say that making this turned out to be quite fun, so I wouldn't be at all opposed to doing more in the near future! Feel free to leave your ideas and suggestions in the comments. I do kinda have an idea for which I even did a whole cast list (HINT: It's another movie based on a book that involves a lot of child characters and magic), but that one's not a musical, so I may or may not do something like a trailer or a couple of movie scenes. We'll see.
